Book review Arabic Synonyms (Dilworth B Parkinson). This book is unique. If you are an advanced learner of arabic this is worthwhile having. The book's style is clear and simple: it lists common arabic words alongside words which can have similar meanings. This is great for building your vocabulary. Other very useful items include categorising words according to usage. For non natives of arabic this is perfect so you know which word to utilise in which situation. Even only having it for 2 days i can highly recommend this book for the serious and avid learner.
There are many reasons why one would want to learn arabic; however, no doubt the most important would be to understand the language of the Quran directly without translation; not only that, but the rich history of Muslims and Arabs is another compelling reason to embark on this path.
I will try and elaborate over the next few posts how i have managed to learn arabic to an 'A' level standard (that is college standard, pre uni).
